SQE1 pass rates by sitting
53% of candidates passed SQE1 in January 2026, and 58% of first-time candidates. FLK1 had a 62% pass rate and FLK2 57%. July 2026 results reached candidates on 8 September 2026; the SRA's report with pass rates is due by mid-October, and it is added here when published.

What the pass mark means
SQE1 results are reported as a scaled score between 0 and 500 for each of FLK1 and FLK2, and the pass mark is 300 on each. Scaling places every sitting on the same scale, so a score of 300 represents the same standard whichever questions a sitting happened to contain. The raw percentage that equates to 300 is set for each sitting and is not published.
Reading the figures
Overall rates cover everyone who sat, including candidates resitting. First-attempt rates are usually higher because they exclude candidates who have already failed once. A single sitting's rate moves with the mix of candidates who sat it, so a fall of a few points is not evidence that a sitting was harder.
Questions candidates ask
53% of candidates passed SQE1 overall in January 2026, and 58% of those sitting for the first time. The overall rate was 56% in January 2025 and 41% in July 2025.
Both must be passed to pass SQE1. A candidate who passes one and fails the other resits only the one they failed.
