Choose your sitting and the hours you have each week, and the plan below shares them across the thirteen FLK1 and FLK2 subjects week by week. Learning comes first, timed mixed practice starts about seven weeks out, and the last fortnight is for mocks and review.

How the plan is built

The plan counts the hours between today and the first day of your sitting at the rate you set. Until about seven weeks before the exam, those hours go on learning and practice subject by subject, shared by our subject weights, each set inside the range the SRA's blueprint gives that subject area (the 2019 ranges, the only version published in full). Solicitors Accounts has no range of its own because it is examined within wills and property, so it gets a small share. After the first week, a fifth of each week is kept for reviewing subjects already covered, because material learned once and never revisited fades long before the exam.

From about 45 days out, practice moves to timed mixed sets. From January 2027 each session of an FLK covers a fixed group of subjects, so the plan rotates timed practice through those groups. The final fortnight is full mocks at exam timing and a review of every mistake, with no new topics.

Rating a subject as weak gives it half as much time again; rating it strong gives it a little over half its share. These are our settings, not a published method, and the plan shows the result in hours so you can judge it.

What the plan does not tell you

The plan does not say how many hours SQE1 takes, because no one can say that for a particular candidate. It shows the hours you have and where they go. If the average per subject looks thin, that is worth knowing now rather than in December.

Using it with the platform

The plan on this page is built from averages and your own ratings. In the platform the same phases are used, but the plan starts from the diagnostic and adjusts daily: subjects you answer well on receive less time, and concepts you keep missing come back sooner.

Questions candidates ask

No figure is published, and the right number depends on how recently you studied law and which subjects you know. The plan above works from the hours you have: it shows how many there are before your sitting and how they divide across the subjects.

Early enough that the learning phase covers every subject before timed mixed practice begins, about seven weeks before the exam. With fewer weeks than that, the plan goes straight to timed practice and mocks.

FLK1 and FLK2 are taken in the same window. The exception is a resit: a candidate who passes one and fails the other resits only the one they failed.

This page does not remember you. In the platform the plan is rebuilt from the diagnostic and adjusts daily from your answers, with spaced review of what you have already covered.
